The main difference OF OPZV and OPZS lead-acid batteries.

2025-11-19

Both OPZV and OPZF are models of lead-acid batteries, but they represent two completely different types of batteries. The main differences lie in the state of the electrolyte and the battery’s structure.

OPZV is an abbreviation of the German phrase “Ortsfeste Panzerplatten Verschlossen”, which means “Fixed-type, tube-shaped plate-sealed battery”.

**Main Features:

- **Electrolyte Type:  Gel electrolyte

- **Battery Structure:  Valve-regulated, sealed, and maintenance-free

- **Positive Plates:  Tube-shaped plates, which effectively prevent the active material from falling off

- **Design Life:  15–20 years at 25°C

- **Self-discharge Rate:  ≤3% per month

- **Application ScenariosOPZV batteries are particularly suitable for applications requiring a backup power supply with a duration of 1–20 hours. They are also ideal for environments with large temperature fluctuations or unstable power grids.

OPzS is the abbreviation of the German term “Ortsfeste Panzerplatten Standard”, which means“Standard batteries with fixed-type tubular electrodes”.

**Main features

- **Electrolyte type: Flooded type.

- **Battery design: Open-type; requires regular maintenance.

- **Positive electrode plates: Tubular electrode plates.

- **Design life: 15–25 years.

- **Application scenarios: Suitable for applications that involve frequent deep discharges; requires regular water addition and maintenance.

Recommended Options:

  • OPZV: Suitable for applications that require maintenance-free operation, have limited space, and have high security requirements, such as data centers, communication base stations, and UPS systems.

  • OPZS: Suitable for applications that require frequent and deep discharges, are cost-sensitive, and are managed by professional maintenance personnel, such as solar energy storage systems and power systems.
